Multiplying and Dividing Surds

Rules

Multiplying: √a × √b = √(ab)

Dividing: √a ÷ √b = √(a/b)

Examples

√2 × √8 = √16 = 4

3√5 × 2√2 = 6√10

√18 ÷ √2 = √9 = 3

6√10 ÷ 2√5 = 3√2

Always simplify the final answer if possible.
