Travel (Distance-Time) Graphs

Reading the story of a journey

A distance-time graph is like a diary of a kombi's trip: the steeper the line, the faster it's travelling. A flat section means it has stopped (passengers boarding, perhaps).

Speed = gradient of the distance-time graph = distance ÷ time.

Example: A kombi covers 60 km in 1.5 hours on a straight section of the graph. Speed = 60 ÷ 1.5 = 40 km/h.
