Volume and Surface Area of Solids

Volume

How much a container can hold - like how many buckets of water fit inside a tank.

  • Cuboid: V = length × width × height
  • Cylinder: V = πr²h
  • Cube: V = side³

Surface area

The total area of all outer faces - like how much paint you'd need to cover a box completely.

Example: A cylindrical drum has radius 0.5 m and height 1.2 m. Volume = π × 0.5² × 1.2 ≈ 0.94 m³.
