Finding Missing Angles

Method

1. Label sides.
2. Choose sin, cos or tan.
3. Use inverse: sin-1, cos-1, tan-1.

Example: Opp = 7 cm, Hyp = 10 cm
sin θ = 7/10 = 0.7
θ = sin-1(0.7) = 44.4° (1 d.p.)

Example: Adj = 5 cm, Opp = 12 cm
tan θ = 12/5 = 2.4
θ = tan-1(2.4) = 67.4°
